The wing of a passenger aircraft touchdown at LaGuardia Worldwide Airport in New York struck the runway floor Sunday because it tried a “go-around” due to an unstable strategy, officers stated.
There have been no accidents, and the aircraft landed safely after the left wing struck the runway floor at round 10:10 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration and an airport spokesperson stated Monday.
Delta Connection Flight 4814, with 80 individuals aboard, was operated by Endeavor Air, which is a subsidy of Delta Air Strains, Delta stated in an announcement. It was flying from Jacksonville, Florida, to LaGuardia.
“The Endeavor Air flight crew followed established procedures to safely enact a go-around at New York-LaGuardia,” Delta stated. “The aircraft landed safely and proceeded to its arrival gate. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
The “go-around” was executed due to what the FAA stated was an unstable strategy.
The maneuver entails the airplane’s stopping the touchdown strategy and regaining altitude to make one other try.
The aircraft was a CRJ-900 with 76 passengers, two pilots and two flight attendants, Delta stated.
The FAA stated it should examine.
